PostHeaderIcon some swimming tips…?

Well, I recently started to learn how to swim. (At 15 years old xD, I know, kind of late)
I wanted to know if you guys can show me a few pointers or tips that can help me swim more efficiently.
I still have a LOT to learn. xD
What I hear from my friends is that people normally learn how to swim underwater, then advance to swimming on top of the water. I find that very true in my case, but is that true?
What I’m practicing right now is the breast stroke, but I cant seem to swim on top of the water, since I can’t do that, I can only swim for a limited amount of time before I have to come up for air again, which I don’t know how to do. Because of this issue, I swim very close to the side of the pool, and every time I need air, I grab the handle and take a breather and go back down again.

If you guys can give me a few good tips, or whatever experience you had, that would be great.
Thank you. ^^

PostHeaderIcon I need some tips to be a better sprinter(swimming)?

I am in high school and i swim in the swim team. I was already in competitive swimming for over 7 years. One of the best in state for the 50 and 100 free. But that was when i was 12. I think i have lost my groove on sprinting. Anyone have any good advice/tips on how to improve?

PostHeaderIcon I am a swimmer, and I would like some tips. Anything about swimming is fine.?

I swim for the SUSS (Shelby United States Swimming) team, the Sharks, and I have my first long-course meet this weekend. I am nervous! i think i will be the most nervous when I get on the blocks and see 50 yards of water in front of me because i have never even seen a long course pool, let alone raced in one. It is also my first 13 and older meet.
Please send tips about swimming!
(Butterfly, back, breast, or free tips too!)

PostHeaderIcon I Need some swimming training tips? Details below:?

I have to swim for school 600m in 17 minutes. Being out of shape, today I did it in 17:30mins and need to knock off thoose 30 seconds, hopefully more. I know today I didn’t have googles, wore board shots and had a small lunch so that all contributed by I don’t think thats everything. Can anyone suggest some good training (more swimming, muscles) or tips to help me with this? I’ve got a month. Thanks!

PostHeaderIcon Anyone have some swimming tips for poor uncoordinated me?

Even as a kid taking swimming lessons, I couldn’t get the rhythm of swimming down. I can move my arms, I can turn my head, & I can kick my legs…but not @ the same time! All my life I’ve propelled myself in water via doggy paddling, breast stroke, & kicking my legs like a frog. So tell me…how can I learn to actually swim??? I really want to swim laps for exercise. Thanks in advance!!!
